Hello Havenites, it's event time again!

This event is shorter than average (four days), and was planned as a lower intensity event due to next month's event being a high intensity psychological event. As you can see from this post, the barrier was breached from the outside and a mystery man crawled in to die.

He brought with him disease, lucky Haven!

Any time over the next four days you may have your character catch this disease, though characters closest to the body would be at the most risk first. It is not mandatory to have your character catch the disease. In all cases, the disease will strip a powered character of their powers, and then it can manifest in one of the following two ways:

1. Over a period of 48 hours, the character will gain a fever which rises to hallucinatory levels. They will die at the end of this period.

2. Over a period of 24 hours, the character will gain an insatiable desire to consume human flesh and this will over-ride all else. Essentially turning the character into a living zombie. The effects of this will wear off after a further 24 hours.

Characters may be infected any time up to 7pm EST on Sunday 24th March, and the disease is immune to any self-healing or outside healing attempted. If a character catches the disease on Sunday, the effects will continue to last until they are dead or the zombification wears off. Any character who dies will return after 24 hours after dying in their bed.

The current post up in the main community serves as a catch-all entry for finding the body and infection over any of the four days, just put in the subject line which day it's for. Characters are welcome to make their own posts instead of using the catch-all, if you should so choose.

And finally, non-event related. Due to feedback received in the HMD there will be no change to the AC rule, and a test drive meme will once again be posted once every two months. The test drive community will remain active and open if any player still wish to use it.

As always, any questions or comments, please ask here!

Question: Can the body be examined and if so could the disease he's contaminated with be determined?

Does that mean the body will disappear after four hours, examination or not? I just want to make sure I'm not confusing myself with what you answered.

Also if an autopsy was done would anything strange be found about the body (other than the disease that cannot be identified)?

If an autopsy's on the table, I'd like to volunteer my Dr. Alex Mercer. The guy knows his way around with a scalpel, after all, and has a PhD in virology.

Just a quick thing! I'm assuming that despite what kind of body the characters have (even if they could normally fight off or even avoid contraction of diseases that would affect normal humans, for example!) that they're still going to be affected the same as everyone else?

I just want to make sure, but it's fine either way!

Is there any specific way the disease is spread? Airborne/touch/fluids/etc or is it just random? Just for a note on what kind of things to be on the look out for if someone'd rather avoid contamination.

For #2, the infected character essentially becomes a normal human with the added desire to consume flesh, is that right? Does the condition give infected characters any other sort of additional abilities? Since classical zombies can't die of something like blood loss, say. On a similar vein, if they're reduced to average human caliber, what happens if they're restrained/incapacitated?

Oh cool, thanks for clarifying! So if an infected of #2 can get locked down throughout those 4 days, they'll turn back to normal after that time is up?

I swear my reading comprehension isn't that shot normally, but thank you for confirming! ;;

If a zombie bites a person, does the disease get spread to that person?

Would godmode-style mind control work on the zombies in helping restore them to their initial state or are they immune/is it irreversible?

Cool, thank you!

Adding onto the question above!

The zombies can't be restored via mind control, but would someone like Charles still be able to freeze them in place and/or command them to sleep through telepathy?

sorry about the flood of q's, blueski, but i'm just wondering if a character would be able to move the body (aka, out of the way/out of sight)?

i don't want to inconvenience any other players!

The description for option two says the desire for flesh will override everything else -- does this mean those afflicted with this won't have any sort of awareness or higher thinking?

All right I got a question.

People capable of healing magic, are they able to stop or lessen the effects of the sickness?

And lets say the character has a fever, if someone were to keep them cool enough could they fight off the disease and not die?

Oops must've missed that. But, okay thanks.
