Event

Hello Havenites!

The event has now begun, and this means that from this point onwards your character will be solely with your fellow group members. As this is the first day of the event, information for both groups will be given in this post. However, after today, information posts will be made solely to deal with one group or the other, in order to reduce confusion. If you have not yet seen the group assignments, calendar, or plotting page for your group, all those links can be found on the event navigation post.

GROUP ONE INFORMATION

As you can see from this IC post, your character is now somewhere entirely new. Not just that, but they will have no idea that they have ever been anything other than a happy Havenite, born and raised under the protection of the Yao Corporation. In essence, this means creating an AU of your character - they will retain their canon personality and, to an extent, memories, but they will be warped by their new identity. For example, if they were a starship pilot who can remember having to murder their best friend; they may now remember holding down a job driving vans for the Yao Corporation and that their best friend was unfortunately found to be a Rebel and executed. How you choose to make this a reality is up to you, we only ask that the following things are taken into account:

-> Characters will have been born and brought up with heavy propaganda that the Yao Corporation is pretty much on level with God. People who rebel against that must be dangerous, and somehow a bit mentally unbalanced, both to be feared and pitied.
-> Characters are encouraged to take vitamins every morning with breakfast. These are delivered by Yao Corp vans and leave you feeling happy and productive for the rest of the day! The urge to take these vitamins will be extremely strong for the first few days - however, this feeling will wear off eventually (future part of the event), which will result in certain effect.
-> Characters are encouraged to see the good in everything. Even a rebel execution is cause for a smile, because it means peace has been restored! Isn't that wonderful?
-> If a character's attention is drawn to their life being a lie, that the Yao Corp isn't flawless, or that everything isn't perfect, it will be frightening and sickening to them.
-> Characters will not remember having powers. This doesn't mean they don't have them, but they might terrify themselves if they accidentally blast a hole in their car. Powers are not a mandated part of a happy Yao Corp existence, so better hope yours don't manifest!

Now a little bit about their surroundings. For such productive members of the Yao Corp family, a lovely place to live is a given. They will be living in a gated community, which seems perfect on the surface. A small cluster of houses sit on the outskirts, these can be inhabited by your character alone or by a small group of characters. They are surrounding a compact town square with stores, a library (containing only approved fiction books), a school for younger characters, a hospital. Basically anything that could be found in a self contained gated community circa 2010 America can be found here. The fences are a little higher than might be normal (fifty feet surrounding the entire place), but who minds? Who would want to leave, anyway? The weather is cool and crisp, mid November, and there can often be snow found on the ground in pure white drifts. There's a large park with a big lake and even small beach area around the outside, but as it's nearly frozen hard enough for ice skating, it's not really the time of year for beach parties.

Each character still has a phone, but it will only contain the contact information of the other group one members. Writing is still prohibited with the exception of writing required for work duties (for example, a teacher could write to grade papers, but recreational writing is forbidden).

A billboard stands in the very middle of town showing a smiling man and woman, the slogan beneath them reads: "Welcome to Haven, where we are all safe together."

GROUP TWO INFORMATION

As you can see from this IC post, your character is now somewhere entirely new. However, unlike their counterparts in group one, they know exactly who they are and who they have always been. They have been transported to a maximum security jail, and been placed on D-Wing. The cells look similar to this in layout, with the exception that there are four bunks per cell (two on either side), and all four walls are made of bars. However, the rest of the 'decoration' is as minimal, one lone toilet and sink with little/no privacy. The cells are arranged in a spiral, and will share barred walls with adjoining cells on either side, meaning that prisoners can still converse with characters in close enough cells.

You may choose your own cellmates. A post has been set up here where you can assign yourself to a cell. Remember, only four per cell.

From the hours of 0800 and 2200 the doors to cells will remain open, and characters may visit one another's cells. The may also visit the two communal areas. The first is at the middle of the spiral, and is a large recreation/dining room. The room is equipped with several games including decks of cards, chess, Monopoly, Scrabble, and Hungry Hungry Hippos. A television and DVD player stand at one end of the room, on offer are the complete seasons of Doctor Who (renamed Inspector Whom for fourth wall purposes), several nature documentaries, and various retellings of Shakespeare's plays. At 0800, 1300, and 1800, chutes will open in the ceiling and packaged meals will drop down. Breakfast will always be cereal and a small portion of milk, plus either tea or coffee. Lunch will be sandwiches. Dinner will consist of one portion of meat, one type of vegetable, and one piece of bread. Jugs of water will be available all day. Characters who require a particular type of food to survive (e.g. blood for vampires) will be delivered small packets of that instead of regular food.

In the other direction, at the outer edge of the spiral, is a small communal shower room with ten showers, and a door leading to an exercise yard with a small grass area and a basketball court. There are three basketballs and if they are lost or punctured, then they will not be replaced, so take care of them. Between the hours of 2200 and 0800 the cells will be locked, any character who refuses to return to their cell will be fatally shot without warning. An announcement will sound 15 minutes prior to lockdown informing inmates that they must now return to their cells immediately.

Sometimes soldiers can be seen patrolling on higher corridors or in the watchtower for the exercise yard, but they will not interact with the characters currently. A door which is constantly locked at the far end of the recreation room suggests there may be other areas with other prisoners that are not currently accessible.

All questions should be directed to the navigation post. Thank you!
