CAN HAVEN HANDLE THE TRUTH?!? (PLAYER PLOT!)

Greetings, fellow Havenites!

So, it dawned on me that I play Zatanna freaking Zatara (aged 14 15, no less), and have gone over a year in this game without her causing some massive magic mischief. You know...the kind that she brings on herself, not the kind that Yao causes for her. Naturally, I couldn't let this stand any longer, so I (with the help of a few SUPER castmates of mine) came up with a little something that would be so very, very her.

Basically, sometime around mid-week (I'm thinking either Tuesday or Wednesday, to avoid clashing with this weekend's intro log and next weekend's Event Start)...there will be the sudden appearance of these tiny vials around Haven. They'll look like medicine, somewhat, and hey--didn't the Yao say they would be providing people with medicine as part of that arrangement everyone made recently? But, of course, they're not medicine at all...they're vials of practice truth potion the little magician has been working on. Truth Potions that were originally intended for Luthor so wouldn't it suck if he ended up not drinking one at all?, but somehow managed to get away from her.

(As to how they got there? Blame Kon I haven't fully worked those details out yet, but I'll have it explained by the time the plot starts. Promise!)

The rules are fairly simple.

(1) This is a completely OPT-IN event, as I won't be specifying how may vials there are so that as many people who want to participate as possible can

(2) Anybody who drinks a vial (or has somebody else drink the vial) will be UNABLE TO LIE FOR 24 HOURS from the moment the potion is consumed.  There will be no other physical side-effects, unless you character's sheer existence is fueled by Lies (sucks to be you, Loki)

(3) To make this as available to as many people as possible, the effects may vary, depending upon the mun's discretion. Your character can either be forced to blurt out the truth anytime they're asked a question, or simply realize that they can't lie and may have just enough willpower to keep their mouths shut. Or, heck, go nuts and have them randomly admitting to all their deepest darkest secrets to anybody who's forced to listen. The one thing the person cannot do is overcome the effects until the potion has the chance to run its course.

(4) Nobody is obligated to drink the potion, if your character would instead hold onto it until they find out what's in it.

(5) No, there's no way of instantly tying this back to Zatanna. However, if you DO want to have your super special awesome detective character ultimately figure out it was her who created the potions in the first place, contact me and we'll talk. I'm cool with IC consequences, whatever those turn out to be.

**ADDITIONAL NOTE: Since my immediate assumption is that MOST of the characters who find vials will drink them, I'm not going to put a time limit on the undrunken vials.  In case there are one or two people who might want to use them for a personal plot down the line.  However, if it becomes apparent that TOO MANY People are hoarding vials, I will set a time limit of the potions running out the next time Zatanna dies in-game.


Involvement can happen one of two ways. At the start of the Plot, I'll have an Open Log up indicating the IC Day that the vials can be found. Alternately, characters can make posts over the Network specified to that IC day. Or after the specified IC Day, if they take their potions a bit later on.

YO THERE. Do the potions taste or smell like anything in particular? And will there be any effect if a character only gives it a tiny taste/partial drink?

YO.

No smell and no taste beyond a subtle hint of generic herbs. Think like a rather pleasant herbal tea. Chamomile, if you may, though not quite, and chilled from being out in the cool air.

As for the degree of effect...even a sip will be enough to work, again to the mun's discretion regarding how strongly.

She actually has the canon ability to make people even resistant to telepathy blurt out the truth, but that was way too godmoddy, so I tweaked it a bit.

The idea is that, similar to Sodium Pentothal, it "relaxes" the body into telling the truth. Except instead of a barbiturate, it's MAGIC.

(Though, incidentally, no matter how much or how little, it'll still have the same effect and still last 24 hours, even with Speedster metabolism)

I had to actually think about this one, because usually Zee's spells/hexes (like the ones she's done to help Wally) run out when she dies, and that can get complicated game-wide...

So let's say that, because of the special ingredients/circumstances surrounding the vials (and the fact that ANYBODY can find one)....there's no expiration date on the potions, unless you've already drank them.

BONUS: since it would then be Thor's fault, any side effects Loki experiences would make him horribly guilty :D

As I said with Bart's mun, one sip is all it would take. Full 24 hours.

But then they might have some useful potion left over... Which,I mentioned the guidelines to above.
