Objects, sculptures, and shapes as communication tools

As per the permission you gave me for the statue spiral of Avatars future, Wan has in the background/handwaved (so far) been working to create it.

But with that, has come the realization that while things people draw and write disappear in 30 minutes, things they create via sculpture, clothes they wear, coins, even guns, keep their functional shape and appearance sans any attempts at actual writing.

Wan would like to use this to create a means of communicating silently with others trapped in Haven. Stuff like hanging or placing a Square rock next to a door of a housing block that has a healer in it. Or a round one for those willing to escort otherwise defenseless people to Haven North.

And if that seems to work (And the shapes have not been destroyed or disappeared once they're used with the intent to communicate something), he'd like to try expanding that to an actual sign-type language that uses the arrangement of various shapes to communicate a simple message that those who know what they're looking at can understand. He's never invented something like that before, so he'll definitely be going to the rest of the (non-Yao Corp employee) residents to figure out what each should mean.

Would this be possible, either partially or in full? And if partially, at point does it start not working/whatever is controlling the written communication barrier start taking effect?
