Anniversary Event Beginnings
Hello Havenites!
It's one week away from the start of the anniversary event, and that means some sign ups! This year's event will consist of the game splitting into two groups, each of which will follow their own story and finally combine in the last week of the event. Neither event is time sensitive, although both events will have small sections which are time sensitive and which will require later sign-ups to participate in.
The Yao Corporation intends to sort the characters into the groups as following:
-> Group One: Everyone who received either no brand or an 'I' brand in the previous event, as well as all characters new enough to have no brand at all.
-> Group Two: Everyone who received a 'C' brand in the previous event.
However, the Yao Corporation is not infallible and, in order that players may have a greater choice in which group they participate in so that things such as personal preferences or potential triggers can be taken into account, some leeway is being given in the group sorting. Players may choose to sign up for the group that does not represent the above specifications, if they can meet any one of the below criteria.
Anyone wishing to be sorted into Group One who would not be naturally sorted there, must be one of the following:
-> A Yao Corporation employee.
-> Able to prove a strong CR (canon or cross-canon) connection with someone within group one. For example, Cecil and Carlos would be eligible for this as canon connection, or Korra and Sonia as a cross canon connection due to their close existing CR. Characters who are only acquaintances, or apartment-mates without speaking much, would not count as close enough CR.
-> Have killed someone whilst in Haven.
Anyone wishing to be sorted into Group Two who would not be naturally sorted there, must be one of the following:
-> Actively rebellious against the Yao Corporation.
-> Able to prove a strong CR (canon or cross-canon) connection with someone within group one. For example, Cecil and Carlos would be eligible for this as canon connection, or Korra and Sonia as a cross canon connection due to their close existing CR. Characters who are only acquaintances, or apartment-mates without speaking much, would not count as close enough CR.
-> Have allowed themselves to be killed to save another person.
-> Are Dr. Newton Geizsler, Masaomi Kida, Kaworu Nagisa, or Hatchworth (Kite does not like you).
So, I'm sure you're wondering what these two groups are all about. I won't give away all the event details, but here is a very basic run down of the sort of things to expect in both groups. These bullet points are to enable anyone who may be uncomfortable with things such as memory loss or physical horror to choose an appropriate group. Please note, this event does not have an opt out option.
Group One
-> Will have memory based effects through some of the event, though by no means the whole event.
-> Will have freedom to explore a new area.
-> Will closely work with existing and new rebel NPCs at certain points of the event.
-> Will deal primarily in psychological horror.
Group Two
-> Will be within a new area.
-> Will come into contact with both rebel and Yao employee NPCs.
-> Will endure a mixture of psychological and physical horror.
-> Will have a higher probability of death during the event.
Both groups will have their own calendar and plotting page, as well as their own opportunities to discover plot relevant information (although the setting of group two is more naturally restrictive). The groups will come together for the final week and climax of the event.
Even if you are leaving your character in the group where they would be naturally be placed due to their brand/lack of a brand from the last event, please fill out the sign up forms. If you have no preference, please state that in the form and I will assign your character to a group based on numbers in order to try and make them roughly even.
Characters who currently work for the Yao Corporation will also be able to be instrumental near the end of the event, and will be contacted nearer the time. It is not mandatory to take part in this as an employee, but it is encouraged. If you have a character who would work for the Yao Corporation, please be advised they need to sign a contract prior to the start of the event in order to be eligible to be used during it.
The sign ups will close on Friday 22nd August, 7pm EST. A list of character assignments, along with specialized group calendars, plotting posts, and event navigation information will go up on Saturday 23rd August, 7pm EST. Please sign up by commenting in this post using the form below.
