Event End

The event has ended, and the OOC vote has returned with a majority vote of open! Although the threads in the latest post with Judy have not yet concluded, because the OOC majority has voted for open, it will be assumed that this will be the IC choice when it is made.

An earthquake tremor bigger than all of the ones previous to it ends the event. It will cause some areas of the apartment block to become severely damage - you may decide if you wish your apartment to be badly hit or not for now. It will also collapse many of the ruined buildings in the city, which will make scavenging for supplies harder, and collapse the tunnels leading through the subway and to The Haven, essentially trapping the characters in Haven West again.

However, the undamaged parts of the apartment block won't escape for long! The tremors will become a regular occurrence, happening between every 2-5 days. They will mostly be smaller quakes, capable only of knocking things over, however occasionally a larger one will further damage the structure of the apartment block - these may also cause small fissures in the ground, though not enough to fall through. As well as the quakes, the garden will be encroaching on the living space. Starting at floor six and working downwards, the killer vines and poppies, along with some of the more mobile plants (such as the Deku Scrub and Malboro) will be invading the hallways and rooms.

The apartment block will continue to be (somewhat) habitable until mid-late February 2014, when it will collapse entirely and the population of Haven will be forced into a new housing situation during the February event.

The garden will remain open, but it will be a more dangerous place to be. The dangerous plants are encroaching on the areas which were previously just grassland and non-harmful plants. However, these do still grow, so some fresh fruit, nuts, and berries can still be gathered from anyone brave enough to enter. The bandstand has collapsed into rubble and is now overgrown with vines.

The locations post has been updated to reflect these changes.

In addition to this, a Nitpicker's Guide to Haven is being constructed (with more detailed information about the minutia of Haven), and should be completed within the next day or two - if you have a question you would like answered or a piece of information to be included, please leave a comment with it in this post. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them here or contact a moderator through PM or via plurk. I hope you enjoyed the event! Thank you!

Nitpicking: I found the information you gave me about the characters not aging in Haven really useful! I've seen a few people referencing their characters aging in Haven, so it might be a good idea to have that info somewhere more prominent than buried in the FAQs! In addition, I'd like to know if hair will still grow, how wounds will heal if left naturally, despite the characters not getting any older.

Pieces of information that could be useful for reference, from the FAQ:

- State of supplies (Body products, writing materials) from Haven North re: Quantity and quality.
- How phone calls work from area to area, and how posts work in general re: Can a post be re-visited, can a character see what other characters are talking about in the same post unless it's private?
- Scars from death and injuries following post-revivial etc. Since death by gunfire has become quite common, it'd be useful to let players know how much leeway they get on this.
- Teleporting and how it works in Haven.
- Writing, scribbling and drawing. How long does it take before each fades and the like.
- Contact lists! What a character should see or get if they attempt to contact a character is on hiatus and chose to vanish for the time being/dead/missing/abducted by the Yao Corporation and what happens if a character is dropped, since that one comes up quite a bit.
- What happens when mind-reading characters try to tamper with stuff lying about and read them. Effects, what they'd hear and the like would be dandy.
- Haven specific information that can be found in the library. I'm thinking of something like this, basically.
- Languages and reading, because it's written in the FAQ that everyone can understand one another but it doesn't apply to reading, if I'm remembering things correctly. This would be a useful reference.

Apartment

Apologies if this has already been asked elsewhere! With the apartment in shambles and slated to eventually be completely uninhabitable, are characters still drawn back to it or are they free to move out into Haven West in search of someplace else to stay?

inquiry about vines/plants in the apartments!!

as the plants are leaving the garden, if a character has a particular affinity with plants and perhaps is a plant in vague ways like this guy here, would the various vines and such be at all amenable to, well, to being chatted to? he'd honestly just like to hang out with them without being actively attacked... like bond with the plants....

Nitpicker's related- If towels are a luxury, is there anything available for actually cleaning (be it bathing or otherwise)? Also, are blankets or any very basic bedding things around at all? Esp as it's been colder and all.
