Hello Havenites! After much hinting, it's finally event time! With the IC post already up, let's move on to the details right away.
Monday 10th June
The event has started by the radio announcement Jonas made just now addressing everyone in Haven West. As stated, characters have been informed of something terrible that Kite is planning, which Jonas has taken great risks in trying to prevent by coming to warn them and requesting their help. Because the communication was intercepted however, the town will be acting up and trying to stop everyone.
The Haven is accessible for the task starting from Tuesday morning, for Jonas’ broadcast would’ve come in after it was shut down for the night on Monday. The Haven will be as it always has been during daytime on Tuesday, but all the holograms of people would’ve disappeared. Characters who try exploring will feel as if streets they walk on are looping on themselves, or sometimes one road is inexplicably stretching on longer than it should go. One’s sense of time and distance becomes distorted; it’s fine to get lost, but remember to come back out of the tunnels before 10PM! Suffocation’s a rather plain way to die, after all.
More alarming might be the fact that the device Jonas mentioned cannot be found even if the Lake is reached. Maybe you’re not looking hard enough? Either way, there’s still tomorrow…
Wednesday 12th June
A first IC mingle post will be made in the main community to detail setting changes, and be used to thread out everything that occurs on the 12th and 13th. The Haven has now fully warped to become a maze. Streets change direction at random, buildings appear where they shouldn't be, and people venturing down there can easily get lost for hours. Characters capable of flight will also find it disabled. Stalking the maze is something people can hear following and the scrape of metal, but not see anything yet. More dangerous than tricks of lights and strange noises, however, are monsters: starting by taking form and shapes of low to medium level monsters from represented canons of characters' home worlds, they will need to be dealt with for progress to be made in this new labyrinth.
Of course, here’s the catch: as Jonas’ warning foreshadowed, these monsters are your friends. Player characters who signed up will begin to gradually turn into monsters starting from the 12th, spanning up until the end of the event. More information on that below!
Friday 14th June
A second IC mingle post will be made in the main community to detail more changes, the post will also be used to thread out everything that occurs on the 14th and 15th. The maze gets worse, the monsters become tougher, and to top it all off, the thing stalking becomes visible. It's Pyramid Head! Those in charge of Haven certainly are biased. It's impervious to all forms of attacks against it and players can be killed by him at random as they choose, if the already available selection doesn't make the cut. The amount of monsters also increased, so tread with great care.
Saturday 15th June
A moderator comment will be made at the end of the Friday post, as characters eventually fight through a path to the Lake and manage to excavate the device through a combination of their wits and strengths. It will then be delivered at the edge of the barrier back in Haven West to Jonas: the interaction would be brief, but will be threaded out.
Sunday 16th June
An OOC post will be made to complete the event. At the end of it, the fog will be lifted from Haven North as promised, but The Haven's settings will not change: the maze will remain, and Pyramid Head will continue to lurk in the shadows of its streets.
All characters that died during the event will be revived, and all characters still in their monster forms will revert back to their normal selves. Everyone will remember everything, however, especially those who turned inside the maze.
This outlines the schedule for the week. As for monster specifics:
From the 12th to the 15th, turning is gradual among the population that chooses to go down to The Haven (incidentally, opting out for signed up characters is possible simply by not going). The change also happens in order from weakest to strongest: characters that shift into low level monsters will have it occur on the 12th, whereas characters that shift into high level monsters will have it occur closer to the 15th. The choice of date and type of monster is left up to the player, but please try to spread your selection out to avoid overwhelming The Haven with powerful monsters near the end.
To that effect, players are highly encouraged to use this post or other means of OOC communication to plot out monsters choices, coordinate interactions, and discuss device retrieval plan with others. Once the decision is finalized, please reply to the corresponding mod comment titled with the appropriate date in the subject headline: that is to ensure balance for each day, ease keeping track of what happens on what day, and allow the moderator to do a quick check. Potentially problematic monster choices will be replied to, but otherwise, please assume blanket approval.
Here's a few links to get everyone started, if those who signed up are still unsure about what monsters to pick:
