New user + new character?

Hello new friends! I'm Icki and I am picking up Tatsuma Sakamoto from Gintama here at Haven, and I am both completely new to this website as well as to this community so if I seem a bit technologically challenged I totally apologize. There are so many amazing characters here that I am super excited to be playing with you all!

Sakamoto is kind of an absurd optimist with absolutely zero filter, and kind of a product of the super ridiculous series he's from. He's a lot of fun to play but I'm picking him up after a few years, so I am afraid I might be a little rusty. My plurk is fartbunnies but I recently signed up for it and I am still struggling to figure it out. Feel free to hit me up and chat! It's nice to meet you all~!

Sakamoto is also in room #4.001~! I apologize in advance, he's going to be a pretty loud and annoying roommate. ;-;

*Cough* I'm Ari and I just play Minato Arisato here, and as it's unlikely that I'd app Zura here Sakamoto is free to fourth-wall him any time in penance since they have the same voice actor. Um, I mean.

Wait Minato is voiced by Akira Ishida? Oh man! Ah, I can see how this place isn't conducive to Gintama characters because of the tone ^^() I hope I don't disappoint you!

After Pris dropped that one time I kind of realized that it'd be a very bad idea to play Zura here because yeah...the lack of humour and such makes for them being less enjoyable overall, Sakamoto is one of the few characters for which it wouldn't make a difference.

And yes, they share the same voice actor and technically Minato's canon name is Makoto Yuki now due to the movie coming out in Fall 2013 and you would be pretty much making my RP career complete if you can somehow get Minato to correct him the same way Katsura does.

You cannot possibly disappoint me, incidentally!

Yup! Sakamoto it doesn't make a difference really because he just bowls his way through every bad situation with a lot of optimism. Also, he's super friendly, and super used to being around people with completely different backgrounds because he travels around all the time? The reason I play him as opposed to the others (I started out playing Gintoki!) is because he's so social and willing to really give anything a shot. Additionally! Sakamoto = suuuuuuper optimist so even if it's really depressing he'll still have hope.

Ahhhhh maybe! It seems like a LOT of characters here are voiced by the same voice actor so Sakamoto might be like "Ahahaha, you sound familiar!" or make a comment on how everybody sounds like his friends...

But ya because isn't Gundam voiced by Sugita too? I just ideeeek

Yup, Gundam is indeed voiced by Sugita! He's welcome to say that to Minato since he's more or less used to the crazy and will just think that he might have been friends with Sakamoto from another time lol.

And yeah, Sakamoto is great in that regard since people who don't adapt to Haven won't end up well.

Ah! I feel like the people here need someone who is like nice and and just wants to be everyone's friends and hold everyone up because honestly that is who Sakamoto is. Like, in the most recent arc there's a flashback and it just is so blatantly obvious that Sakamoto is the most cheerful person and is just happy to be alive and the other three need him and his optimism because of their sad pasts and just lskjdlkjlsf what a beautiful smiling character *flies into the sun*

You know because you guys are into Gintama I am going to bother you two about the series forever ok ok

Don't fly into the sun, we still need you! x( He really is the heart of the party, and it's doubly obvious when you see how he interacts with Zura for instance.

And you say that like we're not going to bother you about the series forever. :D

It's the best because the most recent arc just confirms that whenever Sakamoto and Zura are around Gintoki becomes the straight man AND HE'S GINTOKI ugh those two don't even get me started on how precious Sakamoto and Zura's relationship is???? Like they are so different if you look at their personalities from far away but they are those two people who seem really different but totally understand each other because they are both so undeniably weird and stupid

He's just such a wonderfully happy person. I will admit this now though, I do play him because we are pretty similar. I say just as many ridiculous things in inappropriate situations in real life as Sakamoto does... That, and, well, I am also super loud and have a super identifiable laugh. Still, playing him always makes me much happier.

As someone has pointed out, Sakamoto must understand Zura very well to give him a 'pet' like Elizabeth. It's just the right one since Zura doesn't have time to tend to fluffy animals too!

The same would go for me. I've been called weird all my life and have massive hang-ups over my name, plus I may or may not have been antagonizing aliens in a roller coaster game and making them fall off it at a young age...

I feel like the Gintama fandom is always full of certain types of people. Not that I mind! Everyone is so chill. Instead of arguing about ships everyone just argues who the biggest idiot is, it's great.

But yeah their friendship is just too fucking cute I can't handle it. Zura's kind of the only one who doesn't beat Sakamoto into a wall, so I value that about their friendship. Even though it's for humor, Sakamoto's relationships with Gintoki and Mutsu are super abusive and those two are probably closest to him as well. xDDDDD

It helps that Sakamoto also doesn't beat Zura into a wall! They're just on each other's wavelengths so much that it's weird sometimes.
