Nightmare Plot Stuff. A quick note about the shadow critters.

Sorry to be posting in all the comms, but I've received several questions about what, exactly, people would be fighting against and/or seeing around Haven while the Nightmare Plot is underway. So here's some extra info, and a place to ask questions or work out OOC ideas and/or threading if you need it :'D

Fearlings; These are children who have been consumed by the Living Shadows. They are a bit smaller, but move around in groups of smokey-looking shadows. They will whisper about being hungry or all alone, but DON'T LISTEN TO THEM. They are just trying to play on sympathies in order to trick people to the Dark Side tm

Nightmare Men; These are adults ( mostly warriors ) who became consumed by fear and darkness. They are a little larger than the Fearlings, and though still very ghostly, they are sometimes able to physically grab their victims. They are also more likely to try and outright attack people on the street in hopes of being able to feed off the fear they create. They are smart, but tend to mock their victims and whisper about weaknesses.

Nightmares; These are the horse-like creatures seen in the movie. They are made up of bad dreams, and black dream sand. The Nightmares are physical enough that they can bite, kick, and otherwise use any physical attacks that real world horses can - with the added bonus of being able to fly. They travel in groups, but react and behave a lot like animals.

Yes it is possible to run into the living shadows wandering Haven. It is also possible to fight them, though it usually requires special anti-fear ( or anti-spirit ) equipment and magic to have an effect. Shadows aren't demons, and a lot of the spells or practices used to ward off demons will have no effect on them.

How possessed people behave is up to the players of said possessed characters. Fear affects everyone differently, so it's perfectly within reason for your character to attempt to run away an hide if they're possessed. It's also just as likely that the possessed characters would behave like rabid crazies and lash out at friends or those trying to help them.

Possessed characters have solid black eyes. The schlera ( or "white part" ) of the eyes, the pupil and the iris are all obscured by black shadowy stuff. It's easy to tell who's possessed, though if they are trapped inside their own worst memories and/or dreams, they may not be making a lot of sense. Again, it's up to the player of each character how they choose to handle the possession, and whether or not they want their character to be exorcised. There's a few characters ( like Tooth Fairy, Jack Frost, Kozmotis and Mio ) currently offering to help people deal with the possessed, so get creative!

I hope this clarifies some things? If there's further questions, please don't hesitate to ask me! Tooth and Koz also made a post covering how to ICly deal with possessed people and the living shadows. I am definitely open to ideas for threading, though.

THANKS GUYS, AND I'M SORRY FOR SPAMMING THE COMMS. ;A;
