Just a quick update for those who are following this!

Irrigation System and New Cisterns:
Cisterns to catch the rain (which will now conveniently fall about once a week until someone changes the weather) have been created around the outside of the garden and between houses. These will both (a) feed the Community Garden irrigation lines instead of trying to get water from the well, AND (b) be usable as a source of drinking water (preferably after being boiled). Blue said it will still have a bit of the 'ash' taste to it, no matter how much it's boiled and filtered, but it won't be as intense as the well water and the water will be safe enough to drink.

Plant Growth:
After three weeks of daily tending (which you can handwave your character doing if you want them to help):
  • the 'lawn' that surrounds the actual garden beds has started to grow in. The grass is short (about an inch in most places), but it is very visible and starting to really root in.
  • Ammaterasu's daily tending of the garden has made it possible for plants that would usually start bearing food in 3-5 months to start bearing ripening veggies and fruit in just a little over 3 weeks. Only very hardy fruits and vegetables, 'common' herbs, and a few berry bushes Wan managed to save from the collapsed garden before it began to burn, are in the community garden. So feel free to assume there's a decent variety of plants from across the world for characters to talk about/eat, but try not to pick something that's difficult to grow or can only grow in very specific conditions.
  • The strategically placed flowers along the edges of the garden beds and the stone pathways that lead to the well have all bloomed and are doing amazingly because of Ammaterasu's daily visits, so the community garden is now a (perhaps suprisingly) pretty place in the center of the Housing Spiral.
  • All fruit is bush or small plant fruit, so NOTHING that grows on trees is ready yet. That's going to take another month of tending and Amaterasu's help to get their growth accellerated fast enough and safely enough.

There is an IC post by Wan here for anyone who wants to get in on the first harvest. Action thread threadjacking encouraged. Mingle if you like.

so like, jesse and hiruma are going to do what they do best and make a mess of absolutely everything. which may or may not be a mistake and may or may not be because it's what bored boys do when there's nothing to do. the bottom line is that it's going to be extremely stupid.

backdated for november 4th ooc (february 7th ic), they're going to be setting the entire garden on fire...

we have no excuses, they're just retarded.

anyway, if you'd like to be a part of it, you 110% can be. you don't have to drop us a line below, but we could plot dumb things if you do—we know that if characters see a massive fucking fire raging with pillars of smoke and manly shrieking, someone's bound to go check it out or try to solve the problem (and hopefully ground them or sit them in corners with dunce caps on or something).

i think the best idea would be having two top level sections, one for jesse and hiruma actually lighting the place up, and the second being for the aftermath. let us know what you think! and as always, mad love from kris and froot.

EDIT: TOTALLY FORGOT TO MENTION THAT ANYONE'S FREE TO STOP THEM BEFORE ANY MAJOR, IRREPARABLE DAMAGE OCCURS—WE DON'T WANNA' STEP ON ANYONE'S TOES PLOT-WISE.

PS: THE LOG IS UP SO HAVE FUN.

Hey everyone, here are the groups for the upcoming Haven raid. The raids will be taking place on Thursday, September 25th with the next mingle, and all three raids will be happening at the same time. Now that another store has been revealed and discovered, there will be three raids happening instead of just two.

    and the groups! )

    Hello Havenites!

With the climax of the event coming up, we’re bringing an opportunity to get involved in the plot to everyone! The Morgans, Noire, Korra, and Sonia have pieced together the clues from the murder maze event, and with those clues, they’ve plotted out some raids on the convenience stores to happen at the same time as the Uzumaki’s arrival.

So we’ll need some volunteers of some suicidal brave characters to participate in some store raiding in the midst of this anniversary event. We know that there’s still a lot of plot information that has yet to be revealed, so these are tentative sign-ups to participate. When we have a bit more information, we’ll put up a plotting post and the raiding teams.

The full clue can be read here for curious people, though ICly the full clue won’t be shared because everyone is paranoid thanks to Yao Employees. Thanks, Yao Employees. What will be shared is the basic raid information (even the fact that there will be two raids will be kept secret or they’ll try to anyway).

Here’s a link to the event calendar; the dates of the climax of the event where the raid will take place are 9/22 through 9/28. Both groups will have met up by then, so anyone from group one or group two can participate, unless they’re out of commission for other event reasons, of course. There will be three main groups: a raid on the Haven West store, a group to distract and fight Pyramid Head in the West, and a raid on the Haven North store. The two store raid groups will be randomized, but you’re welcome to choose if you’d prefer to fight Pyramid Head or participate in the raid in sign-ups below.

We know a lot is going on with the event, so these are tentative sign-ups until we’re sure what things will look like when it’s time to go raiding. If something happens to your character in the event and they can’t participate any longer, just let us know!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask below in the questions thread, or contact any of us via PM or plurk! Thanks everyone!

    Hey again!

Firstly, I'd like to thank everyone that signed up to help out with digging the Secret Tunnel. There are 27 vounteers which means once the digging actually starts it will take only a month and a half of dedicated digging (not counting event interruptions) assuming all characters that signed up are still around to do that.

However, before digging can get started, the actual location of the tunnel will have to change which means some new organization has to happen. More under the cut )

Hey guys. So, Mako had an idea! He wants to get some technologically savvy people and brainstorm how to build a radio tower for UHF/VHF comms. Not that he REALIZES that’s what it is, but that’s what it is. Your basic walkie talkies for adults. Ideally, with the expertise they have, and by pulling for spare parts where they can, they could make something small enough to be mobile and that could do the job in emergencies. However, MAKO IS NOWHERE NEAR SMART ENOUGH TO DO THIS ON HIS OWN, nor to think through all the potential pitfalls.

For instance, I’m very, very aware of how easily hacked your basic UHF/VHF comms are. Based off what we’ve seen, Haven more than has the capabilities, since you’re talking 1950s/1960s technology here. We also would need the two cups and a string (aka the transmitters/walkie talkies), basically. Materials are scarce, so we'd also need either to space out finding things, or to figure out how to make our own parts.

Here are some more technical things I've already thought of that Mako wouldn't. )

Hello again, Haven players! This is still frog, Cecil's player, and as promised, the BLOW UP HAVEN player-plot is today! I discourage you from actually blowing up anything in your homes to celebrate, but I thank you for the proffered enthusiasm.

As you can see in his network post, Cecil's going to be talking through the whole event, because that's a thing he does. Feel free to use his blabbing as an excuse to get your characters involved.

The first two sections are CLOSED to whoever signed up on this previous ooc post, to keep down the number of people posting to those threads and keep the timeline of the event from dissolving into complete chaos. Also to keep track of who has been a very bad, bad Havenite in need of punishing by our beloved and terrifying corporation. (Just kidding. ......or am I?) The last section, the exploring of the new area, is OPEN to everyone. So have fun there, even if you didn't sign up!

Here's a better description of the new area, from Blue:

Congratulations, you’ve blown up some of the tunnel!

This has a couple of effects before I get to the description of the area beyond.
    1. Another invisible barrier, much like the one near the underground garden, must be pushed through in order to enter or exit. In the same vein as the previous one, characters who have been in Haven longer will find it trickier to do so.
    2. Phones will not work through the invisible barrier at all.

Once the end of the tunnel is exploded and the short distance of rubble/invisible barrier passed through, the characters will find themselves in a long warehouse type room. Along one wall are plexiglass cells of a size just large enough for a grown woman to stand straight, with a bed, a toilet, and a food dispenser. There are twelve cells and in each one is a woman that is virtually identical to Beth Yao. None of these women are capable of speech or communication, however they are all alive. If people want to, they can be guided to walk and will follow basic instructions. They can be brought back to Haven West if wanted, but will die within 72 hours of leaving the underground room.

On the opposite wall are cooler drawers of the sort used to store or transport organs with a limited ‘shelf life’. These are labelled with various important organs such as liver, lungs, heart, etc. Anyone looking inside will find they do house the organs listed, and anyone capable of doing some kind of creepy DNA test will find out they all match the women in the cells.

A large sheet of paper is pinned near a door at the far end of the room. The writing is English and lists dates and locations for procedures to take place. Five have already happened in the past, the final two are happening on December 28th and March 12th in Haven Central Municipal Hospital.

When the characters enter, an alarm goes off and the door at the far end slams shut with reinforced locks, it cannot be broken through. But this place has the feel of somewhere definitely still being used, and was unprepared for a break in.

If you have any questions about the new area, Blue will be around today under this header to answer them. The rest of this post can be used to hash out any last minute or on-going ooc plotting.

Thank you for helping to make this work, guys. I hope everyone enjoys it!

Hello, Haven players! I'm frog, I play Cecil, and Cecil here has a lot of gasoline to burn.

Which means it's time to blow up Haven!

...Okay, not all of Haven. Just a small piece of it. I've gotten mod approval for the playerbase to blow up the deadend of the Haven East subway tunnels, which will open up a new area for exploring. I have no idea what that area is yet, because Blue wouldn't tell me. But it's pretty cool regardless, right?

OOCly, this will take place on Saturday August 2nd, which is the 5th of November ICly. Remember, remember it.

I'll be posting a mingle on that day for the actual player event. In the meantime, please use this post for sign ups for the event, plotting when and how your character finds out about this plan ICly prior to 8/2/14 (if you're going to have them knowingly involved), or if you're planning to have them drop by unannounced (including plotting against the resistance), just discuss it here so we can make sure we're all on the same page.

For everyone involved: keep in mind that this is Haven, so there is always the chance of terrible consequences at mod discretion for participating in any plots against The Yao Corporation.

    Thanks!

Hey, guys, sorry for the delay. Here are the groups for the convenience store raid that will be happening on June 20th:

    Groups under cut! )

Feel free to use this post as a place to plot with other players! (I highly encourage this, actually.) If you have any questions about the raid, you can reach me by PMing this journal or through [plurk.com profile] gaslamp!

Using the phone that was found in the underground garden in the last event, Fujimaru was able to contact the rebels about the fog. As you can see, Stefan is on his way over, and they've been given some instructions to build a box- and also pay a price- for containing the fog.

Fujimaru is in the midst of sharing this info with Korra and Deadpool, but Doc is gonna put the call out for any able-bodied people who are not currently infected. (Though the infected are welcome to answer his call, but he's going to do his best to dissuade them since they're a liability.) He'll also be using a cover story to try and keep Yao's lackeys away, but he only knows of so many employees, so filtering will only get him so far.

Which means that they are totes welcome to crash the party, but organization is gonna be key here.

This is what he's going to ask for:

    - People willing and able to build the box.
    - People able to make supply runs, possibly to North or East if they have to, in a timely manner.
    - People willing to stand guard/fight against any of Yao's operatives who try to find out what they're doing.
    - Possibly a very small and trustworthy group to keep an eye on Stefan specifically.

And like I said, Yao and the infected are welcome to come and try to ruin things, so this whole ordeal has the potential to get kind of messy. (Never mind the as-of-yet unspecified sacrifice.)

So get in here with your plotting, volunteering, and possible sabotage!

Hello, Havenites! I've cooked up a tiny bit of a player plot for you all.

    30 May 2014 @ 09:56 am
Hi there! I'm KCH and I play Wan and today the mods approved a small personal goal Wan set himself after seeing the once rooftop garden at the bottom of the sinkhole:

Making it accessible and more planned out/easier to avoid the obviously bad plants.

During the night of May 30th/31st OOC, Wan is going to head out to the Sinkhole and reshape it into something more "harmonious". Anyone with seismic sense or the equvilent (earth-sense, earthbending, really good sense of touch, etc) will be able to feel the event as it occurs, the general direction it's coming from, but not the exact location of it. Mostly due to it not taking him very long. To everyone else that might feel it, it'll feel like a minor earthquake that probably won't register at all nor will it shake anything down/off walls.

The reshaping will take about about ten minutes, tops. The pattern it's in also won't be obvious from the ground/at the edges. But anyone looking from above should be able to recognize the shape:

    Picture under cut )

I would prefer it if Wan was not obviously tied to this as he's not doing it for recognition. So if anyone wants to investigate immediately, please have them show up after it's over and Wan has been able to make his way back to his block.

If someone would like to be the first to announce the change over the phones, we can arrange that here. Otherwise, go nuts.

    ---

    IC specifics:

The Garden will now be in a roughly circular shape with a semi-spiral pattern due to the nature of the Yin-Yang symbol and how Wan has reshaped the small stream running through it into the two pools. While the picture has clean lines, the actual sinkhole and tiers within are much rougher.

The former roof-top garden that had fallen to the west side of the sinkhole is still on the west side (the green areas), but it has now been divided into tiers that separate the good plants from the obviously bad plants and provides an easier climb down to the bottom. This means the poppies still need to be avoided, but the Vines are all the way down. The Giant Flytraps (Audrey II Plants) are on the third tier down because Wan doesn't see them as inherently bad, but they should be easy to avoid. The rest, make your own call on how obviously bad the plants are and where they're likely to be.

All corridors from the Sinkhole are still accessible. Wan doesn't know how important or unimportant they are, so he made sure to add stairs and bridges where appropriate.

Hi there! This is Reine, the mun of Tatsumi ([personal profile] silenceofthelance), Hiroomi ([personal profile] sisconiichan) and Ted ([personal profile] returntheyears). As those I might've been tagging noticed, I suddenly slowed down to non-existence the past few weeks without warning. I actually went on hiatus because I was getting burnt out by real life and RP was just too hard for me to handle, but now I'm back, and I come bearing gifts!

First off, with mod approval, I decided to chart down an unofficial Suikoden Bestiary Chart for people who might have characters that go hunting in the tunnels. It's a small list of the lower-leveled monsters from Suikoden only (and is not to be considered the complete monster list of Haven), kind of like a usability and edibility chart since some of the monsters from the canon are similar to regular animals, just more likely to murder you. This is more for characters who would definitely hunt for food/materials instead, and had been modified to try to resemble the game but still be measurable by haven standards. As of right now, with Verdugo still in the tunnels, all of these monsters are extremely scarce to non-existent. This will change when the tunnels are back to normal.

Second, I bring you a player plot approved by the mods. The details are under the cut.

    Restoration Plot details here. )

So basically, I need someone who can trigger the event and characters who would get dragged into it. If separated into groups, no two groups will end up being brought to the field at the same time. I'll be NPCing the memories of their deaths as well as the monsters. If no one volunteers to trigger the event, I'll have one of my characters do it so that those who might want to get involved can still do so.

ICly, I'd prefer this to happen during the week, so I'd like to know what is a good day for everyone and their characters. I'll have to stop sign-ups by May 7, 9am EST so I can have ample time to organize everyone before I put up the post. OOCly, the post will go up on May 9, 7pm EST so that people can focus on the event first. Please and thank you!

    20 April 2014 @ 04:04 pm

First of all, if you're not sure what Haven Volunteer Day is, let me direct you to this post, since it'll answer all of your questions! But for the short and sweet version, this is a non-mandatory, completely opt-in mini-event with the aim of giving characters a chance to improve Haven and give themselves a little bit of hope after two months of doom and gloom.

Based on the poll, the post will be made between April 25 - April 27 (Fri. - Sun.) OOC, and IC, will take place over Several Days. And just based on my schedule, I'm planning on making the post on the 25th, of course as close to 7PM EST as I can.

Now, for what we can do! Behind the cut. )

    13 April 2014 @ 08:02 pm
So, as you might have noticed, Haven has gotten a little intense in the past two months! I noticed a lot of people on Plurk mention how they felt a little burnt out with the game, and from what I could tell, this was at least partially because it's hard to improve things in Haven with how the game is set up, which means characters ICly get burnt out too. So! As an effort to try and improve morale IC and maybe help with some OOC issues, I present to you—

    07 February 2014 @ 08:48 pm
    Hey guys! Wighty here!

To make a long story short, a few characters have been constantly bandying about ever since last year that they ought to go back to see Stefan and apologize for everything that happened and to try to make a better relationship with him. If you need some background on this, basically, last August/September, there was a big event involving a lot of kidnappings. One group of Havenites went down to meet someone named Stefan for help.

(Skip this next part if you already know what happened.)

A girl named Caroline told them to meet up with him. Later, Jonas, Jessica's brother, appeared to show them the way down. They went through a tunnel for two days and ended up meeting Stefan. They got a lot of information out of him and the bunker, but then bad things happened, and Stefan chased them out.

So that's where we are now! It's time to try to make reconciliation. Given that the apartments are destroyed now anyway, no one will mind blowing another hole to go see Stefan right

We have Blue's blessing to go ahead with an IC log! This post would just be for you to express your interest in going/signing up. Blue has stated that this needs to happen before February 15th, the event, so we'll be forgoing an IC announcement, I think, in favor of just handwaving that and doing the log. This post will be for you to express interest in having your character come along/signing up! We need a general count of how many there will be.

If your character was brainwashed or otherwise helped to kill the people down there, they would, er, probably be gently discouraged from going along.

ICly, this would be headed by Beast Boy, Alphonse Elric and probably Minato Arisato (waiting on a response still).

    Club Charter
Founding Members: Everyone but Hyobu and Junko
Goals: Kick Hyobu and Junko in the butt
    Also Save the Jessicas

Lightheartedness aside, Jessica the NPC has been murdered by Hyobu and Junko (everyone throw things at them)! This occurred following this thread. However, we have Blue's approval to brainstorm to try and save her, so whoever has ideas should feel free to hop in! At this point, Jessica is already dead so it is not a question of jumping in the fight thread and saving her that way.

    Possibilities:
-Anyone with a time reversal power
-Anyone with a strong resurrection power that has canonically been shown to bring people back from the dead.
    -Something else?

If we manage to have the chance to do a time reversal, we'd also need people to stop Hyobu and Junko since a bunch of PCs tried already and cannot, so feel free to chime in on that, too, if your character can do something along those lines. Personally, I can think of a few tricks for Beast Boy to try that would probably be quite gruesome but might work.

Alternatively, we could just go for messy revenge on Hyobu and Junko, too, aha...

EDIT: Messy revenge plan is already in the works! Please keep a lookout for/contact Jason Todd (Red Hood) [[personal profile] decease] if you're interested in joining in that.

Also feel free to just chime in that you want to be involved if your character had a very close relationship with Jessica deadpool and alphonse

    Proposed Solutions:
    1. Giorno Giovanna ([personal profile] muda_mk2) has the ability to return souls to their bodies but the body remains 'dead' in terms of physiological function.

    2. Deadpool ([personal profile] ishotyouuu) may propose cutting a deal with Yao Corp to see what they can accomplish.

    3. Nico ([personal profile] trances) may trade a soul for a soul.

    Now for some lists )

It's time for another convenience store raid! Also known as: wow we never ever learn, do we?

For anyone not familiar with it, the convenience store is next to the Haven West subway station and is sealed up tight. Several times characters have tried to break in and try to uncover its secrets, and it always ends in horrible death and mayhem. Al and his brother Ed always organised the raids in the past so, now that Ed's gone, Al thinks it's his duty to organise the next one too.

He has a new plan this time which is to create a two pronged attack. One big team will assault the barrier around the town with everything they have, while the other team will focus on the store itself. The store team will be split further into small groups of three characters, and each small group will try and penetrate the store separately. The aim of this is divide and conquer... he hopes with a lot of small groups, the store's focus will be split too much and one set might get through.

Al wants each small group of three to have the following:
    -> One fighter
-> One person who knows/is familiar with technology
-> One person who has some skill with magic or healing

Al has a post up HERE where you can find out about all this ICly, but you can assume they talked off screen if you want. However, he would be strict about not taking anyone with secret demons inside them, because that all worked out badly in a previous raid. I've been liaising with Blue about this, and the date this raid will go down is the 28th October (which is a Monday).

If you want to be involved, please fill out this form so I can keep track of who's going to be part of the raid. There will be another post for plotting purposes nearer the time!

Edit to add: Blue has asked me to remind everyone signing up that any character involved in this, especially in the store side of things, may be subject to death and other effects without the option to dodge or avoid.

If you have any questions, you can reach me at [plurk.com profile] alchemical.

Sorry to be posting in all the comms, but I've received several questions about what, exactly, people would be fighting against and/or seeing around Haven while the Nightmare Plot is underway. So here's some extra info, and a place to ask questions or work out OOC ideas and/or threading if you need it :'D

Example images under the cut )
