Hello Havenites!

It's event time, and this one is starting off with a bang, quite literally! As you can see from this IC post, something has gone wrong with the remnants of the garden and the ruins of the apartment building. The weight of the ever-growing plants and the ruins, combined with a new spiral twisting of the vines and roots in the earth, has weakened it sufficiently that is has fallen.

Underneath is a pocket of emptiness rather like a sinkhole, although it does not seem to have occurred naturally. The walls are lined with metal and there are huge metal supports which have stopped further ground from falling away, the area is roughly three times the size of the garden and now rests thirty feet down. Due to the fall, and because of the lack of direct natural light, most plants (of the normal and dangerous variety) will not survive long down here.

The power dampening effect has fallen with the garden, but seems to have been negated slightly by the area itself - this means that all powers will now operate at around 10% of their capacity within the small garden section or the rest of the underground area. The floor is made of metal and is currently several inches below water, as the moat water has flooded it, but this will seep slowly through the cracks and into the earth below.

Leading off from the main underground room, there are four short corridors, one in each compass direction:

-> To the West side (which is where the garden has fallen), the corridor leads to a metal door, which can be forced with effort. Printed in white stencil letters on the front of the door are the words STORAGE UNIT C5. Inside the room is a single wooden crate with a piece of paper attached to the top. Inside the crate is a small faceless and genderless statue of a person, seemingly made of stone and only two feet high. Both paper and statue can be removed from the area, but the paper will go blank if brought up to Haven West.

-> To the South side, the corridor leads to a cave in of rubble and earth. This cave in can be cleared - however, due to the 10% power limit, it will take three days to clear as long as people pitch in to help.

-> To the East side, the corridor leads to a metal door, which can be forced with effort. Printed in white stencil letters on the front of the door are the words CENTRAL ATMOSPHERE CONTROL UNIT C5. Inside the room is a set of computer banks which are humming with power. The three lit screens are all showing Chinese characters and asking for a password. It is possible for these machines to be hacked with enough expertise and an understanding of Chinese. If they are hacked, the computers can be used to alter the atmosphere within Haven West only. This ranges from changing and controlling the weather, to making the air a hydrogen blend instead of an oxygen one, so be careful making tweaks!

-> To the North side, the corridor leads to a door marked with a large white stencilled spiral. It is highly reinforced and is made from a variety of materials, including iron, wood, gold, and human bone. It cannot be forced currently.

A second OOC and IC post to detail further effects of the new area will be made on Monday 5th May, 7pm EST, when the tunnel has been cleared, and a final OOC post will be made on Wednesday 7th May, 7pm EST.

This post can be used as an OOC plotting post in order to coordinate clearing the tunnels, hacking the computers, and that mysterious wooden crate. And follow up question: would a average human plus said crowbar be enough to jar open the CENTRAL ATMOSPHERE CONTROL UNIT door?

This is about clearing the rubble—Precis came in here with a ridiculously complicated mechanical weapon that consists of a giant robotic hand and a heavy hammer that she controls with motions and remote control. In theory, she could move or break large boulders of the cave-in without breaking a sweat. I don't know if this would affect the timeline or even if you'd want it to, but...yeah, the question I -meant- to ask was if the 10% power cap applies to machines brought from home!

just a question re: structure of the hole itself. Is it like something that just caved in, where the edge of the whole would have a wall under it that one could scale down if they were good at that sort of thing? Or is it like poking a whole in a hollow shell of something, so like, if you dropped a rope down from the edge of the hole, it would just be hanging in empty air and not leaning up against the wall of the hole?

... This question is probably not a surprise, I'm sorry, but since powers aren't completely negated down there—would anything in particular happened if Fujimaru tried to communicate with the computers in the East side?

Also, since Fujimaru's ability to move his right arm at all is technically part of his power—would he have difficulty moving his arm, or would it just be the technopath aspect that's affected?

... And I'm sorry for all these questions, but as Fujimaru wears a power inhibitor as it is, would his powers be dampened to 10% of his already weakened power, or...?

Just wanna make sure! I know 10% power redux to characters with flight translates to only being able to hover, but would that hover be strong enough to not break their neck if they try to fly down into the sinkhole?

About the door on the north, if someone were to put their ear to it would they hear anything from the other side? And what would happen to the statues if they were to be broken as is?

since this has an effect on a more widescale level and be somewhat permanent, i wanted to clear it with you first!! we were talking in plurk about needing to water the plants, and boba (morgan(m)-mun) mentioned that the water in the well kills the plants, SOOO thats obviously out... our second plan was using the new weather machine to do it, so...

would it be possible and acceptable if after things clear up a little bit, that they set up semi-regular light showers in haven in order to keep the plants watered?

Rose will help with clearing should someone propose the idea; she doesn't speak Chinese but the computer banks will be of interest down here for her, I think, whether she gets a chance to mess with them or not.

BUT MOSTLY THE PAPER

She's surefooted enough (and confident enough in her own prowess) to read that paper and get Ideas. Not sure where she might go with those Ideas, but if there's a paper route forming (har har) I'd love to plot some things.

And really, she'll be sad about the plant life, what if some of that was edible?

Ah, computers. Precis is an expert programmer, but she doesn't speak Chinese. She'll want to take a look, but she'll probably spend most of her time clearing the rubble because she has the tools to do so.

Anyone want to teach her Chinese Would anyone want to hang out with her, I guess?

And as for Dylas, sullenstallion, he'll probably just creep down there in the middle of the night and loudly proclaim he isn't curious about the place at all and that he was just bored. Because he's an idiot. He'll just get in everyone's way. Dylas, go home. If anyone wants his help somewhere, he...can maybe do something, I don't know. I'd kind of like for him to help check out that wooden crate, but...yeah.

kaworu can float and hack stuff with his brain (doorlocks, computers, etc) if anyone's interested in the former or the latter. as for rubble clearing, he wouldn't care to help out there SORRY EVERYONE...he would standby and make stupid commentary though.

SO Gareki could actually maybe help out during this event seeing as he'd be really, really curious about the computers. So I'm going to tentatively toss him in with the computer crew, even if he's going to pester someone to translate for him. He'll do what he can once he gets the hang of seeing repeated characters-

As for Sakon, he's perfectly capable of heavy lifting but.... I'm leaving it up in the air with him for now........ he really doesn't care much about anything in particular. unless someone wants him somewhere?

hinata (#2, though if anyone calls him that he'll be angry, so please feel free to call him that) will be focusing on EVERYTHING. ALL OF THE KNOWLEDGE. especially computers and the statue, though! he also has an understanding of chinese. he'll offer his own laptop up to the people hacking the computers and he'll try to act like a leader.......and will probably fail. but he'll try to help out regardless!!

bart will be helping to clear out rubble and basically be out exploring! his powers are reduced, so as soon as he runs down to the room he'll be... a much

speedster. and while he's kind of small and not really strong, he'll still be available to help and make terribly insensitive comments.

i'm probably going to sideline mikasa for this part of the event, but if anyone would like her anyway just let me know!

spelunking is Pascal's expertise, and she's a prodigal whiz when it comes to computers, so she'll definitely be in the computer room! she doesn't speak a lick of Chinese though, so that'd be a deterrent unless she can get someone who can understand it to help her out. she might be able to figure it out on her own eventually, but even prodigies have their limits.

I wish I could volunteer Mai for more than helping clear out the cave but frankly all I can imagine her doing is standing in the middle of all these, looking at the corridors and going, "Well this was a dumb idea."

That said, cleaning up the cave seems the least stupid idea to her likely so.

Soooo Kokonoe is probably going to try messing around with the statue in the storage room when she's not busy with/gets bored of fiddling with the computers. Because SCIENCE it must be important somehow, and she wants to run some tests on it.

Like if it REALLY takes you to a bad place or if it REALLY unleashes bad stuff when destroyed. 8D


... Just kidding maybe, she'll probably try to examine its composition and how carving someone's likeness can revive that person, why the side effects exist, etc.

I'm really sad because I've been waiting for this forever and I feel like I'm too late for it to matter with all the superpowers and computer nerds but FLAWLEKFJj Chihiro is a Super High School Level Programmer so he can join in on any computer hacking. He doesn't speak Chinese but he speaks ... wires and code???? He also has his AI program(s) which is highly intelligent/capable.

Chihiro also has been delicately toeing around the network for quite a few months now. idk if anyone can do anything with these things but i will be home from an academic trip tonight so yes o7;;

SAVE THE PLANTS | A GARDEN

Okay so i just put up a quick toplevel about saving the plants if anyone would like to partake in that whole fiasco! The plants have medical properties that sakura has been looking at, so she's running trying to get as many as possible so they dont lose access to that


ALSO we need... people to possibly work together and set up an actual GARDEN in haven where these plants can be kept and cared for. but sakura would need people who are knowledgeable in actually caring for the plants (since shes more on the scientific side of plants). if anyone could offer help for that, it would be awesome

RAPUNZEL at least knows how to care for plants kept indoors...and has read a lot about botany! So she will lend her hand to these gardening efforts (tho not to any efforts requiring fighting off ridic killer plants)!

TY LEE will also lend a hand but she knows nothing about gardening so she will just carry stuff and help out generally with manpower.

And I will go tag them into your thing because yes.

Fixing the NPC phone

He can't do it himself, so he'll be looking for help from his scientist friends. ...As long as someone else doesn't take the phone from him first.
