Hiatus End + Suikoden Bestiary Chart + Player Plot Details

Hi there! This is Reine, the mun of Tatsumi ([personal profile] silenceofthelance), Hiroomi ([personal profile] sisconiichan) and Ted ([personal profile] returntheyears). As those I might've been tagging noticed, I suddenly slowed down to non-existence the past few weeks without warning. I actually went on hiatus because I was getting burnt out by real life and RP was just too hard for me to handle, but now I'm back, and I come bearing gifts!

First off, with mod approval, I decided to chart down an unofficial Suikoden Bestiary Chart for people who might have characters that go hunting in the tunnels. It's a small list of the lower-leveled monsters from Suikoden only (and is not to be considered the complete monster list of Haven), kind of like a usability and edibility chart since some of the monsters from the canon are similar to regular animals, just more likely to murder you. This is more for characters who would definitely hunt for food/materials instead, and had been modified to try to resemble the game but still be measurable by haven standards. As of right now, with Verdugo still in the tunnels, all of these monsters are extremely scarce to non-existent. This will change when the tunnels are back to normal.

Second, I bring you a player plot approved by the mods. The details are under the cut.

Okay, this is going to be somewhat complicated to explain because there's a lot of factors in it, so I'll be cutting it up into sections to hopefully make it easier to explain. This plot is based on the Restoration Arc in Aphorism, where they are able to resurrect a young girl who was never involved in their school.

What is the plot exactly?

This is a Restoration plot, where characters will be able to resurrect someone who is permanently dead, or resurrect them before their five day period is up. This includes previously killed NPCs, like the scientists from a previous mod plot.

As seen in the Event post, there is an odd little statue that can be found to the West Side of the Underground Room. This statue, if drawn or carved on with a face, will trigger the event and drag everyone within close range into a field they have to survive in order to get out. If they survive in that field, they will be able to resurrect the person who they carved into the statue with a price. I'll expand on this below.

Who can participate?

For this plot, I need two types of characters: The characters who would trigger the event and the characters who get dragged into it. There isn't a set number of characters required for the latter, but I need at least one person for the former. Note: There is a very high probability of your character dying in this, so proceed with caution.

  • The person who triggers the event will be the one to carve/draw a dead person's face onto the statue. This has to be someone who actually would do this and wants to resurrect a dead person. Whether it's a player character (like Al or Aoi) or an NPC (like the scientists), the intent is to resurrect them. However, please note that not all the resurrections would succeed, which I will expand on later.

  • The people who get dragged into it don't have to be anyone special, they just need to simply be nearby when it happens. They don't need to know how to fight, but it would definitely help them if they could.

Who can be resurrected?

Like I mentioned previously, not all characters can be resurrected, but this is not IC knowledge. They are free to assume this applies to everyone. The following are the limitations for who can be resurrected:

  • Previously dropped characters (i.e. Aoi, Al) won't be resurrected. The event will still trigger if their face is drawn, but the Master (explained later) will simply toss them back out once he finds out who they want to resurrect. Attacking the Master will result in instant death, but it is okay to converse/argue with him before leaving.

  • Any of the scientists from the event last month EXCEPT Liebman, Sasha, and Aston can be resurrected.

  • Jessica may be resurrected. She's moving, but she's still a corpse. She can be completely resurrected through this.

  • Karen may be resurrected. She donated a chip in her head to Sharon previously.

  • Some of the ghosts from the apartment or the school can be resurrected.

These were the characters approved by Blue for resurrection, in case anyone would want them back alive.

How does the plot work?

When the plot is triggered, all characters as well as the person who was drawing on the statue will be transported into a field, leaving the statue behind. The face drawn/carved on the statue will also disappear, allowing it to be used by someone else later.

The field they are brought in is devoid of life, with absolutely no buildings or plants in sight, not even a skyline. It's like being brought to a gray area. However, what it does have are statues and a stage.

  • The stone statues are designed after a variety of seemingly random people with despairing faces, all in different states of degradation. They range from young children to the elderly, both men and women, as if they were looking at the last moments of their lives. They're very detailed, and for some people, they may look like people from home that have died. Through the cracks of the statue, it's easy to tell that they are hollow, and putting your hand in one will reveal just an empty space.

Not all the statues are like this. If they look hard enough, there would be some statues with glowing orbs inside of them, but they have to be taken out carefully. The statues are plenty and are scattered all over the field except for the stage, making it difficult to reach the stage without going through a labyrinth of them.

  • The stage on the other hand have no statues, but there are a number of pedestals standing in front of them. The number of pedestals is dependent on the number of people present, so if there are four people in the room, there will be four pedestals. Aside from that, what appears to be a large monster biting a ring is also sitting there, but he would not react to their presence aside from watching them.

There are several hanged bodies on the ring, as if executed there, their heads and bodies covered in white marked bags except for their arms and legs. The number of bodies hanging is the same as the number of statues present.

For reference, see here.

Here's the tricky part.

  • If the characters look into any of the statues eyes, or even glance at it, they would be frozen in place. They will end up seeing the memories of the statue, or to be more specific, the instance before the death of that person who the statue is of. What happens during this is that the character is reliving all of the suffering of the statue before its death, and it will reflect on them while they are frozen. So if Statue A had died instantly due to an explosion, Character B will suddenly blow up in place. If they had slowly been stabbed to death, the character will have stab wounds appearing immediately and would bleed to death.

  • You cannot snap a person out of it by touching them. No amount of hitting or shaking the person will get rid of the effect. To save them, other characters must break the statue.

  • However, there's a catch. If you break a statue, one of those bodies from the ring fall down and starts attacking at random. They're strong and are difficult to kill, and the more statues that break, the more monsters will be released to attack everyone in the room.

The only way to end all of this is to put orbs onto the pedestals on the stage. These orbs can be found in the cracks and crevices of random statues, and are the same number as the people in the room. Once all orbs are placed on their pedestals, the monsters, statues and the stage will disappear, leaving one pedestal and a doorman in its place, with a large glowing door behind him.

Who is the Master of the Realm?

The Master of the Realm is the doorman sitting on the pedestal, and the one who will resurrect the character whose face has been drawn on the statue. He's an eccentric but fair creature, and would only ask that you sacrifice someone in order for him to return someone.

Yes, that's correct. He'll be asking for a sacrifice to take the resurrected person's place. This means that no matter how many people had survived during the first part, they will still have to sacrifice one more person in order to resurrect someone. They cannot refuse. Refusing to sacrifice someone will cause the Master to kill them all instead. So simply put, a life for a life.

However, if the person on the statue is someone he cannot resurrect, he will simply tell them so and return them back to Haven. If someone is sacrified, he will resurrect the person they requested and send everyone back to Haven.

What happens to the people who die?

Anyone who dies during the plot is treated to the same death mechanics of Haven and will resurrect in five days, as well as the person who sacrifices himself. However, the good thing about this is that whoever they end up resurrecting will have a tangible body and resurrect in Haven, which counts as a victory.

So basically, I need someone who can trigger the event and characters who would get dragged into it. If separated into groups, no two groups will end up being brought to the field at the same time. I'll be NPCing the memories of their deaths as well as the monsters. If no one volunteers to trigger the event, I'll have one of my characters do it so that those who might want to get involved can still do so.

ICly, I'd prefer this to happen during the week, so I'd like to know what is a good day for everyone and their characters. I'll have to stop sign-ups by May 7, 9am EST so I can have ample time to organize everyone before I put up the post. OOCly, the post will go up on May 9, 7pm EST so that people can focus on the event first. Please and thank you!

If yes, how do you want them killed? A statue can force him to bleed out somehow or some hideous spikes cold jut through him, anything where he'd have time to realize "hoshit, I'm gonna die in, like, three minutes."

He could find out about the information via Yao Corp and try it for himself, or he could draw Al's armor head over the statue in a pique of loneliness. I could justify either/or, but the first would require mod approval, I think.

[personal profile] returntheyears 2014-05-04 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
I just imagined him drawing his armor head like this and it'll still be an accurate likeliness of his face. Either works for me! I could ask the mods about the former though if you want.

He's not the best artist. He will totally draw Al like that.
