Important Announcements
Hello, Haven...ites.
I've got a few announcements to make before the game opens, to hopefully help the grand opening go as smoothly as possible. The game will open at 7PM EST, Friday 28th September! If you know anybody still completing their applications or reserved who wants to be there when it opens, now's the time to remind them.
Tags
Every character has been given their own personalized tag. This tag is for both the main and logs community. Please only tag your own entries. Do not tag entries you tag into. There are also tags for each apartment and the few major locations, which you are free to use as you will. It is important you tag your posts with the locations, as the moderator will be following certain locations in case characters uncover anything.
Activity Check
The AC will normally run on the 1st of every month, with the AC period being the first through to last day of the previous month. The first AC will go up in the OOC community on the first of November. This will cover the period from the game opening through to October 31st.
Opening Day
A post will go up in the main community as a mass introduction. There will be subheaders for each apartment, as well as subheaders for outside the apartment building and the well/billboard. Characters can threadjack other rooms and meet one another. This is to hopefully prevent a stream of 'where am I' posts immediately; after this, please post whenever you would like.
Events
In order to allow time to settle in, the first major event is planned to begin on Friday 19th October and will run for one week. The week prior to the event, certain smaller things may begin happening. More information on this will be announced in the OOC community nearer the time.
Announcements
The moderator plurk is
yoohoohoo. All announcements will be made on there. For people without plurk, all announcements will be duplicated and added to the new important announcements page. Don't worry if you forget to look at either of those; major announcements, such as events and AC, will always be put in a fresh post in the OOC community.
I hope you're all as excited for the opening as I am! If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to ask them on this post.

Sorry if this sounds pushy at all, I've just been in a game with this system before, and it could sometimes be difficult to find threads when you couldn't remember which character started the post the thread happened in.

Adding threads to memories or a word document can be a good way of saving them for AC.

And that segues into
B) While I'm more comfortable having a single tag system to make it easier on having to keep track myself, in games that don't have them and that want the players to keep track of ac, I'd suggest making a post in your personal journal that's private and keeps track of not only your posts, but the posts you tag into. Just remember to update it each time you tag into it and pop the link into your post. That way, when AC rolls around, you can just c/p what you have onto AC.

Having just the one tag for posting and tagging can create a lot of clutter. For example if someone clicks the link for Kenzi's tag, they are most likely wanting to look for the posts she has made. Either to tag into one of them or possibly to look back over her past development, and don't want to wade through all the posts she has tagged into as well.
I hope that makes it a little more clear?

I can understand your reasoning behind it, but as someone who's played in both formats of the game, tagging is more or less a method of keeping track of where/when for me. Especially if I, as the player, am required to keep track of my own posts. If I'm having a herpderp moment when I tag into a thread and forget to log it, then I have to remember who I tagged and go hunt through either their tags, or go scan through the comm to see if I can find the post I tagged into.
But, as you stated, it's personal preference and we're all entitled to our own version of it. You kind of get to hold presidential veto over that, so it's a moot point :)

I do understand the reasoning behind your views, especially as it's a player-provided AC, and if enough of the playerbase wanted it to be that way then I would be open to change!

Maybe have a vote? Or a separate post asking opinions? Or just leave it as is?
I dunno. I'm going to shut up now.

However, if I get a majority of the playerbase giving opinions to the contrary on this post, I will look at revising that.

If someone wants to see all of the posts by a particular user, they can use the ?poster= command in the URL
i.e. http://havenooc.dreamwidth.org/?poster=havenmods will show all posts by the mods to the ooc comm.
I don't see why a tag is also needed when dreamwidth has this feature, unless the tag is also going to provide additional information (such as posts the character has commented to.)

A lot of people I've known have liked to track their closest CR's tag (such as the moderator will be tracking certain location tags), in order to make sure not to miss a post. With the same tag being used in others' posts as well, tracking the tag becomes moot.
Does that help explain the reasoning at all?

I think the points that have been brought up are fair. And as a consequence, I will ask the community what they would prefer.
