this is an intro

Hullo, I'm Surge! I'm bringing in Hellboy from the comics. Not the comics based on the animated films based on the comics that the movies were also based on. Just the regular Dark Horse ones. They're pretty different from the movies as far as hidden fantasy creatures go, in that they're not hidden in the comics and Hellboy is a world famous Paranormal Investigator in them and goes around punching things a lot with his giant stone hand 'cos his aim is shit.

So yeah, this dude is going to be rooming in apartment #2.002. SUP ROOMIES HOPE YOU LIKE GIANT RED DEMONS

1960s, actually. :'| And I recommend READING EVERYTHING TBH because I'm that asshole. But if you know of Identity Crisis, I would just recommend Seven Soldiers (unless you're one of those people that hates Morrison). I can't remember the exact reading order, but I'd seriously read the whole damn thing. It's one of the times DC got events right and full of losers that only I really care about (magic losers).

o right she also had a relationship with DC's resident Big Blue Demon in the 80s. He's precious :(

but I can't say I have an opinion on Morrison at all, really? I mean I have heard good and bad things, but I haven't read enough of him to tell. I HEARD HIS DOOM PATROL RUN WAS NEAT and I really wanna read it. My DC stuff mainly got condensed to the booster and beetle and question titles after 52 and then they rebooted and I was like FUCK IT and just packed my bags and left.

also I remember Blue Devil having a sidekick and I only know this because Jaime mixed it up with the Teen Titans and this just gets better and better the more I consider it

the last page with ralph in bed alone, i pretty much lose it. i try not to re-read it if i can, even for canon review. it so gross. :(

yeah dc likes their crises

i tend to prefer magic lamers (tm!!! don't steal 100% original description!!), myself, but i don't really follow big name bros.

i don't care for a lot of morrison's main character stuff (i like all-star superman, tho). if you like hellboy, you'd probably like his doom patrol run and i feel like if i were to intro anyone to the weirder side of the dcu, i'd almost always rec seven soldiers (and maybe the deadman series and idk, architecture and morality). but yeah i mostly just read dc. or i used to. it's what i breathe, so i'm always good for recs.

yeah!! that was a retcon that came in during teen titans. he wasn't really quite a sidekick until then? idk. it was a good series for being at the height of 80s schtick, imho.

Apparently Supes hooked up with WW in the reboot. I usually don't keep up with what's happening but sometimes, man. SOMETIMES... Comics were hard ofr me to get into because i live in a tiny town and we have like NOTHING here but then I was introduced to digital comics and the rest is history. The only ongoing I'm reading now is Transformers More Than Meets the Eye and occasionally Robots in Disguise. I will def check those two things out though. I can usually go through comics pretty fast when I have nothing else to do, I just need to finish some college work that I have been putting off because it sucks my soul out through my nostrils.

yeah! i don't read anything (well, i do, but only to bitch about how awful it is!!) because anything i would read is basically just as good if not better in the old universe (swamp thing, animal man, etc). i keep up with it to Bitch and Moan exclusively. i'm firmly against trinitycest although i have a soft spot for clark/diana because of silver age and kingdom come and the like.

but yeah, my closest comic store is a good half an hour drive away and they're kind of assholes. most of what i buy now is exclusively off the interwebs for that reason. also cheaper. but yeah, i either READ ALL THE COMICS or have so many to read i quit before i start. i must have 30 trades waiting to be read but eh

I do the same thing! I just like to hear knews about it and shake my head and be all like YOU'RE FUCKIN UP YOU'RE FUCKIN UP. DCAU did give me a soft spot for Diana/Bruce though, because they had such an interesting thing going on. Sorta. Ish.

The comic thing would be less of a problem if my main mode of transpo wasn't walking or taking the bus. No one will waste gas to take me to a comic shop that is probably in an hour away in the nearest actual city anyway, so it's like WTFever.

IDK man, I am pretty fond of Stormwatch, even if it was fucking ridiculous. Actually that is pretty much my guideline for things. I like silly things. And just really really bad things. Like Tarot. God that comic is just... wow. no words.

NO NEVER DIANA/BRUCE IS THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE (tbf, I am not a Zee/Bruce fan, either, although I have had dynamic good enough that I'd ship it via RP. Except. My OTPs are painfully obvious.). I'm not hugely a DCAU fan. I have essentially all of it on DVD, but I only really watch episodes with Zee. And Vigilante. Heh.

Yeah, I'm... the same... haha... driving is hard and terrifying and I don't. :(

I have crap standards, too. My love of awful horror films makes that pretty obvious! I'm an eternal Stuart Gordon fan, if that means anything to you. I couldn't get thorough the first issue of Tarot, however. I tried, I really did.
