Event Info and first IC mingle intro
It's almost time for the December event, Havenites!
This event will be the first one with much less direct mod participation. There are a couple of reasons this event stretches for such a long time; the first of which is that there are a few stages and I want every player to have time to react and play, the second of which is that I know it's exam season/busy job season for a lot of players and I wanted it to be less stressful.
This event is split into three sections:
Section One : Awakening (Monday - Thursday)
Remember that fog that rolled in before the characters woke up in the hospital? It's back. It rolls in on Monday night and puts every character to sleep. When they wake up, they're in Haven North. Haven North is exactly as Haven West would be, if it weren't destroyed. So the town is in good condition, there are working plumbing systems and electricity, and plenty of food to be found.
They begin the week happily. Characters regaining items will find them in the shops that are now in good condition, free for the taking along with food, drink, etc. There's a fun-fair, sports stadiums, and even a library (yes, a library). All characters will have dreams (or vivid day-dreams if they are not a character who usually sleeps), of loved ones and happy memories.
Section Two: Nightmares (Thursday - Sunday)
Starting on Thursday, things begin to take a turn for the worse. Small things at first, such as noticing a slight crumbling on the buildings, or the meat found at the store being rotten. These will build over the next few days to more severe things, like the water running brown and dirty, or a whole roof collapsing.
In addition to that, the dreams will begin to turn to nightmares. It may begin small, such as a happy memory being twisted slightly to have a tragic ending. These nightmares will be focused on blame and guilt - perhaps loved ones begin to denounce the characters, or terrible memories resurface and refuse to be silenced. You can decide what your characters see, but it should be aimed at making them feel guilty and distressed. Again, these should build over the four days, starting small and growing in severity.
Section Three: Ending (Sunday - Wednesday)
In this final stage of the event, things really go downhill fast. The buildings begin to fall apart, lamp-posts crash to the ground, electrical appliances malfunction and the food and water are unsafe and scarce. If you want to have your character injured or killed by any such incidents, please feel free. Though try to make it believable (like the roof falling on them), and not entirely unbelievable (like a rogue waffle iron gaining sentience and burning their face off).
The nightmares have now become a waking terror as well. Hallucinations begin small - perhaps a familiar face glimpsed out of the corner of the eye - and eventually become solid. Depending what type of character they are, they may hear and see things designed to push them to murder or self-destructive behaviours. You can use your own discretion for this, but please cut and warn for potentially triggering situations.
Event Schedule
An IC mingle post will be made at 7PM EST on Monday 10th, which will describe the setting of Haven North and what can be found in greater detail. Otherwise an OOC post will be made as a reminder things can escalate on both Thursday 13th and Sunday 16th at 7PM EST.
IC Mingle Log
Not event related, but please be aware the first IC mingle log to introduce new characters is now up!
As always, any questions or comments are welcome on this post. Additionally, feel free to use this post for plotting!
