Hello Havenites, this is your monthly mod post!

MOD ANNOUNCEMENTS
First of all, may I wish you all a Happy New Year, and thank you for continuing to be a part of Haven.

A test drive meme has been put up this evening and can be found here. Please go and test drive any new characters, let your friends know about it, and tag about to help potential new players get a feel of the game.

Finally, the application post was getting full, so a new one has been created and the links to it have been edited in all the other information posts.

COMMUNAL PLOT CLUES
These plot clues are available to be found by anyone, and can be found by multiple characters.

-> The books in Haven North library are starting to crumble. Any character who goes plot hunting might find that the books, previously in good repair, are starting to crumble to dust. Only a few at the moment, but at a faster rate towards the end of the month. - This clue can be found in Haven North library.

-> Various people wearing gas masks and hazmat suits can be seen walking the perimeter, outside the containment field. Approximately four per twelve hour period, and none the same. - This clue can be found anywhere around the perimeter.

-> A young girl (Nieve) and her pet raven (Grady) can sometimes be seen in the distance around Haven North. It is possible to approach and talk to her on occasion, please leave a comment under the plot requests if you wish to do so. - This clue can be found in Haven North.

WEATHER
The weather was changed in November by Wan and is now early spring so that it rains roughly once a week for several hours and is otherwise cool at night and warm during the day. If your character changes the weather, please comment here with the changes made. This means that if anyone wishes to know the current weather for posting purposes, they need only check the last comment made under that heading. This section will be included every month, so the header to check the current weather will always be sticky.

SMALL PLOT REQUESTS
This is the place to request any small player plot requests which do not change the game setting as a whole, and do not involve the whole playerbase. For player plots that are more involved, please still use the suggestions and player plots page. This section is for requesting smaller plots, such as a raid on the convenience store or a request to join the Yao Corporation, though not limited to these two things specifically. The header to request these is here.

LETTERS
If you would like to write further letters to Caroline, or any other NPC to be passed via Caroline, please leave them here, and replies will be made to your comment in this post. Caroline only visits the underground room sporadically, so there may be some wait between replies.

You may also use this section to visit Jessica in her little tent encampment, or request her presence in a post/thread.

CONCERNS AND SUGGESTIONS
This is the place to let us know about any concerns you might have regarding the game itself. This is not the place to tell us about concerns you have with other players, or for major concerns, please use the screened Concerns Post for that. If you would like to leave a concern or suggestion, please try to be as detailed as possible so that we can properly understand and address the issue. This is also the place where you can let us know about any small mod mistakes; for example, typos in the information posts, or broken links anywhere, so that these can be fixed.

Follow up to housing spiral remodel!

Thus far, there hasn't been much response on the ooc post about the housing spiral remodel and the one person who expressed concerns has retracted them because they were based on a different idea of how it would be done than I envisioned (there are now diagrams here!).

Would it be okay to go through with doing it further into the month?

Just a disclaimer that any thread with Nieve may result in temporary bodily harm. Otherwise that's fine, and as I'm setting up a log for someone's induction to Yao tomorrow, I can include a section for Rider to meet Nieve. Will she be alone, or with anyone else?

Hey, would it be possible for a small group to try and summon the spirit that was released just to be able to talk to it? Assuming one of the people involved can summon ghosts and such.

I hope this is the right place to ask—

As we discussed in a previous plotting post, Precis has a camera that can clone items. If she were to make a copy of the plot book, would it decay as well? Also, after talking with Lante and hearing that about halfway through the tunnel is where the others started to speed up, Precis wants to take some flashlights down there and inspect the area more closely to see if there's some sort of discrepancy. I figure it's a long shot, but would she find anything?

Is there anything (architecturally or unexpected-Haven-things-wise) stopping people from writing information on the walls/floors of the library instead of in the books?

Oguna would love to talk to Nieve as well. Or rather, he would love to talk to her bird. It's reason enough for him to approach, at least he misses the crow that used to travel with him


also, a question. would it be possible to (try to) kill the hazmat people?

Heya! So as mentioned here, Beast Boy previously gave a Titans communicator to Mikhal without any expectation of it ever being useful. Now that he has a second one, he and Nadia would like to use it to try to contact Mikhal and/or Stefan if Mikhal is still with Stefan; in particular, he has some questions about the Well Lady.

If you think this is OK, I'd like to request a thread if possible! Thanks!

What would happen if a character tried examining or attempting to fix a crumbling book from the library? Is there anything abnormal that can be spotted on the books if someone with a careful eye looks them over, or anything preventing the books from being repaired?

Also, do the crumbling books look like they've been weathered naturally, or is there anything weird about the way they're crumbling?

As it is now almost the end of February, what is the condition of the books in the library?

HAH now I have an actual plot request... though I'm not sure whether it's "small."

The housing spiral fell and while the terrain has been manipulated, of course all the wiring and pipes got extra screwy, knocking out the electricity and plumbing. Now, before Yao gave them power, Newton (and Hermann but mostly Newton for the first one) had, with mod permission, taken due time to scrap materials from Haven North and built a functional generator that, if I recall correctly, was capable of powering one Block. They had finished a second in due time (if a touch faster knowing what to look for, etc, but with reasonable delay due to finding such things and the trials of North trips).

That said, my questions are as follows:

1) Is it reasonable to assume that the generators then built and then allowed to be capable of powering one block would still function thusly (or was the wiring in each house badly damaged as well and thus in need of repair)?

2) Would it continue to be possible to build more generators if at a slightly expedited pace given familiarity and probably enlisting mass help from those invested in such a thing? OR

3) ...OK, I was going to ask, would it ever be possible to, with the appropriate effort and scavenging, to build a powerful enough one to power multiple blocks, but then I actually looked at generators and realized that was kind of ridiculous. Unless they get lucky and walk through a mirror in Haven North to a room full of better tech, an industrial generator's probably out of the question, lol, even for dudes from a canon that broke physics with Jaegers.

so I guess returning to 2), could a big ol' project be reasonably pursued to slowly build a crapton of generators that would be able to power the houses individually and on a reasonably limited basis (like they obviously can't be on all the time blasting their rap music and having digiornos)?
