Hello Havenites!

As you can see from this IC post, the members of the loveliest gated community in Haven are getting some new residents. There are eight of them, and they're all really interested in getting to know the current residents of the town. The NPCs are:

Four of these new residents are happy Yao Corporation enthusiasts, here to make sure that everyone else in the town is behaving well and taking their vitamins on time. The other four seem to be exactly the same, but they can often be found talking to those unfortunate people who haven't taken their medication in a while. Surely they're just encouraging them to take their vitamins more often?

There are four real Yao Corp employees and four rebels under cover as Yao Corp employees, who have infiltrated the community in order to try and help the residents remember who they are. They will be trying to undermine the real employees, who are trying to make sure people are attending retraining, no odd instances of powers are breaking out, and no rebel talk is going on. Because of the introduction of the rebels, anyone going for retraining may find that the format changes a little. The identities of which of the NPCs are Yao and which are rebels will not be revealed OOC, it's up the characters to figure it out IC.

The various NPCs are being played by the entire mod team, and if you would like to thread with a specific one, please note who they are played by (in brackets beside the name above) and contact them directly via PM to havenmods or havenhelp respectively. The NPCs will be around for a while, and may tag player made posts if relevant; however, please be patient with tags from the NPCs.

Hello Havenites!

As you can see from this IC post, Stefan has come a-calling to help get rid of the fog and, by extension, the nightmares that go with them. The mingle post has been divided into sections in order to help make it easier for people to find what they want to get involved with - although feel free to tag every section if you like! The pre-existing plotting post is over here, in case any Yao employees and rebel-sympathizers want to plan out some skirmishes.

The sections in the IC post are as follows:

-> Talking to Stefan
-> Building the box
-> Binding the fog

Stefan has given instructions in the main post and will be around to be spoken to, although the building of the box and the actual binding will be done by the residents. A prior OOC plotting post for that can be found here and an IC post organizing box building can be found here.

As Stefan has explained (see the IC post), to bind the fog requires effort on the part of all the residents and, as this event is fairly intense with lots going on, and because of the length of IC time it may take to bind the fog, the effects of the event will last for longer than the end date of the event. To clarify, the official end-date of the event is Monday, but some effects (such as the infections, and binding the fog) may stretch on past the end of the event. Further details on this will be given in the event end post, but please be assured that there will still be time to take part and also that backtagging is definitely encouraged.

Hello Havenites!

As you all know, the sign ups for the next part of the event, starting tonight, closed yesterday and PM information was sent out to all the players involved. This included a mutation of the nightmare that everyone has been sharing for the past few days, and a few added bonuses in the form of physical, mental, or emotional problems.

There are three core issues per group, and then each character will have received a small personal deviation and different infection type. Characters who signed up will be drawn to the others who suffer their same core issue. For example, all physically altered characters who were burned will be drawn together.

The thing is... these problems aren't contained to just those people. Just by touching one of the signed up people, any other character can become "infected" with one of eleven short term visions or changes. It seems like this problem is getting stronger instead of going away, so characters are welcome to plot ways to try and end the nightmare fog as well as plot between themselves for the transmitting of different status effects.

In order to help keep this as organized as possible, I have made a plotting post here, as this post will be used for the warned list (see below). There is also an IC post which can act as a mingle for these new effects, for IC planning, or for general interaction. However, players are welcome to also make their own posts and logs if they wish.

Hello Havenites!

As the event closes, it seems like nothing truly horrific is going to happen... yet. The spiral door remains closed, and the mini cave garden seems safe. However there are some effects and changes going forwards:

-> Snails will begin to be seen in the mini cave garden, and then slowly begin to spread up to infest Haven West too. They can be as small as normal snails and as large as a foot long. Eating them will cause a slow metamorphosis into a giant snail.

-> Contracted employees of the Yao Corporation who spend more than an hour at a time in the underground cave will find themselves growing sick and paranoid, regardless of their special immunities.

-> The letters and notes that have been left will be taken during the next 48 hours during a time when nobody is in the underground cave, and replies will be forthcoming next week.

From now on, a mod post will be made once per month to combine several elements. It's primary function will be organizational, to help make the main plot more accessible and plot points more visible. This will include a section where players can mention what the weather is that month, depending what they've done to the machine. Where a list of small plot points will be given that are free for multiple characters to notice as a springboard into the overall plot, and where players can bring forward group plot ideas - such as kill Beth Yao and convenience raids, so that they can be plotted out and organized properly. The first of these posts will go up on Wednesday 14th May, 7pm EST, so feel free to use this post to discuss what weather will be programmed by then!

As regards to non-event stuff, there is one small announcement that need to be made. This is in regards to Activity Check. The half AC for a hiatus of two weeks or more will now be either a post/log OR two threads totalling fifteen comments, this is following the suggestions made for a fairer AC on the How's the Game post. This is now in effect and has been changed on the relevant information pages.

It's that time of the month again, Havenites. That's right, Activity Check!

Activity can be either of the following:

One post or log AND a thread of five comments or more.
OR
Three threads totaling thirty comments or more.

As clarification, this means five comments by your character, or thirty comments by your character over three threads. These do not have to be spread equally, they can be distributed any way as long as the three threads have thirty comments from your character in total. Posts or logs must be posted by your character, or be a joint original post. Failure to comment to the AC post or provide sufficient AC will result in being removed from the game. You are free to re-apply for an ejected character; but to be fair to other applicants, you must wait a month before doing so.

For further clarification on activity requirements, please see this post. All players who had a full month hiatus have already been cleared on the list.

All players accepted during the month of March are automatically exempt from AC. A hiatus of two weeks will reduce the requirement by half to one post OR a thread of twelve or more comments. Players on hiatus for the whole month are also exempt from activity check. Both characters on hiatus for the whole month, and characters accepted during the AC month, have already been cleared from the list and those players do not need to reply to this post.

Posts, logs and threads can be taken any time from March 1st - March 31st. You have until April 5th, 7pm EST to comment. A warned list will go up shortly after that. If you appear on the warned list, you have until April 7th, 7pm EST to reply with evidence of activity or hiatus. An ejected list will go up shortly after.

Players who are on hiatus during the period that AC must be submitted, but who are not exempt, may ask a fellow player to submit their AC for them, or the moderator will check the community tags to verify activity. Otherwise AC must be submitted by the player themselves.

Hello Havenites!

It has been decided to close the poll regarding applications early, as the vote currently stands at 100% in favour and 0% against with over half the playerbase voted. This means that applications will move to a monthly cycle after March.

How it will work is as follows:

-> Applications will open to be submitted on the second Friday of a month.
-> Applications will then be open for a week and processed on the third Friday of a month with the intro mingle being the following day, as usual.
-> Reserves will open on the third Saturday of a month, the day after applications are processed, and will remain open until the second Sunday of the following month, when applications open once more.
-> Events will generally be in the first or second week of a month.

This means that neither applications or events will fall close to the end of a month to assist with AC during the month, and that as all applications will generally be accepted after the 15th of a given month, new players will automatically now be exempt from AC on the month of their arrival.

As this means reserves will be open for most of the month, and only closed during the one week applications are open, reserves will now count until two days after applications open (the second Sunday of a month), in order to give other applicants the chance if reserves are not used. The reserve page will be updated to display this change after reserve dates begin to extend beyond the last March application processing date (March 28th).

The event this month would have been a highly intensive one - however, as we are not implementing this system until next month (in order to be fair to the applications and reserves currently in the queue), that event will most likely be run in April and a different, less intensive (but still plot relevant) event has been designed for March.

The calendar page has been updated to show these changes and is now accurate. As you can see, March will progress as previously planned, and then the new system will be brought in as of the beginning of April. The other relevant information pages have also been altered - however, if you notice any discrepancies that the moderators have missed, please let us know!

In additional news, we have unfortunately lost Tater as a helper, due to real life circumstances. We will not be bringing in an additional helper to assist with Pyramid Head interactions, as Ruki will be stepping up and assisting Marion with that instead.
